The Activist-in-Residence Scheme

The Activist-in-Residence Scheme has provided £20,000 in grants for four projects that support collaboration between researchers and activists in addressing societal problems.

Race Across the Channel investigates the digressive strategies used by French and British elites to counter antiracist scholarship, led by Dr Reza Zia-Ebrahimi (History), Rokhaya Diallo and Grace Ly (writers, journalists and activists).

Rebel by Default is working with women living with HIV, focusing on their lived expertise and capacity to bring about change. Researchers on this project are Dr Katharine Low (GKT School of Medical Education/Centre for Education), Dr Ella Parry-Davies (English/Centre for Humanities and Health) and Positively UK.

Reimagining Language Justice through the Art of Translation examines language injustice and political domination, led by Dr Sanja Perovic (Languages, Literatures and Cultures), Dr Rosa Mucignat (Languages, Literatures and Cultures) and Cristina Viti (professional translator).

Moving/homing by kindredpacket centres on people with East and Southeast Asian backgrounds and intersections between home, movement and digital technologies. Dr Wing-Fai Leung (Culture, Media & Creative Industries), Dr Jonathan Gray (Digital Humanities) and David Kam (movement artist and teacher) are undertaking this project.
