Well-supported and large scale multidisciplinary programmes are essential in addressing the major challenges facing societies and the planet. The interfaces between disciplines are where some of the most creative and exciting new research develops. King’s has made multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary connections central to our strategic ambitions. We aim to provide an environment that supports multidisciplinarity at every level. This extends from major institutional partnerships and collaborations, to new bilateral links, to help our staff and students realise their full potential in research and innovation.

Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research can need more support to develop. Since 2016 King’s has funded twelve rounds, providing over £5m to new collaborations to help them progress to external funding. As well as success with grant and fellowship awards, the programme has also helped boost careers, external profile and impacts. More details can be found here:
