South Korea and North Korea are two of the most consequential countries globally today. The South is a developed market economy, a vibrant democracy, a cultural powerhouse and a global foreign policy actor. The North is a hereditary dictatorship, a nuclear weapons power and a source of instability across the world. The two Koreas have never been as much discussed as they are today.
The King’s Korea Initiative aims to become one of the leading European and global hubs for dialogue, research and commentary about contemporary Korea. Our members are drawn from three faculties across King’s, allowing us to shape understanding of different aspects of contemporary Korea from multiple perspectives. Our position in central London ideally positions our initiative to serve as a centre to create and spread knowledge about Korea from comparative and global perspectives.
