King's Innovation Catalyst's award-winning IP & Licensing team is the first point-of-contact for potential investors across industry andventure capital funds.

Our IP & Licensing Team is responsible for all commercial transactions, including spinouts negotiations. We lead on :

• Discussions with potential investors 
• Driving forward marketing interactions 
• Preparing heads of terms and term sheets 

For founder-led spinouts, discussions are driven by the founding team with potential investors, with advice from our innovation experts. 

1. Browse our technologies on InPart, which are categorised by technology sector, type of opportunity and IP status.
2. Filter for ‘university spinout’ under the ‘opportunity’ dropdown menu.
3. Select connect’ with King’s College London, which will automatically send a message to the IP & Licensing Manager assigned to the spinout. If you are a member of InPart, you will see our replies on your portal, otherwise you will receive a reply to the email you provided.
4. Alternatively, contact innovation@kcl.ac.uk and we will connect you with the right IP & Licensing Manager.

We have a model of active shareholding which promotes our ambitious ecosystem for innovation across the university.

Our IP Code of Practice promises:

• an increase of pre-money equity to 80% for academic founders of new spinouts
• a fixed 1% royalty fee for all licensing of IP, with a royalty-free window of £50 million on sales.
• founders may consult for up to one day a week for 12 months on their spinout, with faculty approval.
