We provide advice and strategic planning to transform research into products that benefit people and society.

We help with internal and external translational grant applications that can develop your early discoveries into:

• Pharmaceuticals and biologics: small molecule, biologics, drug repurposing, formulation/drug delivery

• Advanced therapies: cell and gene therapies

• Medical devices, diagnostics and imaging

• Digital health: digital therapeutics, data-driven tech

• Behavioural and lifestyle interventions: psychological interventions and nutritional medicine

We established the ‘Translational Academy’ to increase understanding of the translational research development journey and signpost the King’s community to King’s Innovation Catalyst’s resources.

These workshops and information sessions aim to inspire King’s community to imagine new applications and possibilities for its research.

Conversations with researchers often start in the Translational Research Office. Planning translational pathways can lead researchers to seek support from the IP & Licensing team to protect emerging intellectual property assets, or to explore collaborations through the Industry Partnerships team.

We support academics to develop their translational strategy and plans to create a safe and effective product for patients.

We work with King’s researchers to develop strategies for:

• Product development: target product profile, design and usability, modality experience, route of administration, and manufacture

• Clinical and proof of concept: proof of concept, clinical trial expertise, patient and public involvement, and IP

• Regulations and safety: safety and regulatory, quality management, risk mitigation

• Market and value proposition: value proposition, competitive market, health economics, and route to market

• Funding and collaborations: funding support, collaborators, and milestones
