Nutrition plays a critical role in immune function by providing energy and metabolites that allow metabolic reprogramming of immune cells . As a result, dietary interventions have been studied for their effects in immune function. This research group aims to investigate the mechanisms and effectiveness of nutritional interventions in regulating the human immune system. Ongoing research involves determining the impact of plant-based foods in optimising immune responses to the influenza vaccine via a large randomsied controlled trial, and the role of the gut microbiome in regulating such responses.
