The Department of History at King’s has huge strengths in the history of political thought, with remarkable temporal and geographic reach. United by a shared belief in the power of ideas and texts, colleagues work on topics as diverse as feminism, utilitarianism, empathy, anti-colonial nationalism, Muslim secularism, human rights and neo-Romanism, global class formation, British imperialism, natural law, Pan-Africanism, the American Constitution, inequality in early Islamic society, ideas of poverty in the age of Enlightenment, and Windrush thinking.
