Prospective doctoral students with Home fees status are predominantly funded by the UK Research Councils. This funding is provided through studentships in academic departments or through Doctoral Training Centres and Partnerships (DTCs & DTPs). Applications for these funding opportunities are made either centrally, via a university department or faculty, or directly through the Research Council funded Doctoral Training Centre.
As well as providing studentship funding, Doctoral Training Centres and Partnerships offer tailored research training courses and professional development pathways for their funded doctoral students and, in some cases, for students without funding.
King's has a number of Doctoral Training Centres, in a range of disciplines and research areas. The university is also a member of a number of multi-institution Doctoral Training Partnerships.
