The Research Talent Department is led by Dr Nigel Eady, Director of Research Talent, working in collaboration with Dean for Doctoral Studies Professor Rebecca Oakey and Deputy Dean Professor Peter Heather.   

Nigel leads the teams of staff supporting our 4000 doctoral researchers (through King’s Doctoral College) and 2100 research staff (through the Centre for Research Staff Development).

These units deliver a broad portfolio of personal, professional and career development opportunities, support and advocate for this crucial researcher community, have oversight of governance, regulatory and quality assurance frameworks for doctoral research, and deliver the university’s prestigious doctoral scholarship programmes.

Supporting researchers in the early stages of their career is crucial to enable them to understand their options and maximise their potential. We also work closely with the academic community so that doctoral supervisors are well supported and have the skills, information and advice they need to be effective.
