We are interested in gene-environment interactions, with a particular focus on the molecular mechanisms linking extracellular signalling to changes in gene expression and cell behaviour in the context of infection, cancer, ageing and metabolic-related disease.
To this end, we utilise profiles established using a range of genome-wide profiling techniques to identify novel regulatory pathways and then determine the consequences of altering these for cell function. Our goal is to elucidate how such mechanisms contribute to human disease and phenotypic diversity that cannot be accounted for purely by the underlying genetic variation.
