Introduction to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion e-learning
All staff can access this introductory e-learning module on the WorkRite system (the platform we use for health and safety and data protection training).
EDI committee and network training
This training is for anyone who chairs an EDI committee or staff community network. By the end of the training, participants will be able to: demonstrate a basic understanding of key EDI principles; chair meetings effectively and inclusively; use meetings to progress EDI actions.
EDI conversations and foundations
Want to cultivate a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered? This EDI training equips professionals at all levels to champion diversity, understand legal frameworks, and break down barriers. Explore the “why” and “how” of EDI, learn from history, and discover practical steps to make the workplace a more inclusive space for everyone to shine.
Managers supporting mental health at work
One in four people in the UK will experience a mental health condition this year according to Mind. Given these statistics it is very likely that you, as a line manager will, at some point, manage an individual with a mental health condition in your team and it is essential that you are able to support them. This session explores the range of factors at work that can have an impact on your team's mental health. It also provides practical guidance on what you can do to cultivate good mental health in your team.
Managers trans and gender identity in the workplace
Trans and Gender Identity Awareness training is focused on raising understanding and awareness of transgender and gender-diverse identities and experiences. The training will focus on appropriate terminology, recognising transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals, and providing resources to help employers create a safe and inclusive working environment for all.
Preventing bullying and harassment training for line managers
This course is open to all staff (academic, research, and professional services) that have line management responsibilities. The training aims to equip line managers with the understanding, skills and confidence to prevent and challenge bullying and harassment safely and successfully, within the context of a thriving staff community at King’s. It covers the definitions and different aspects of such behaviours, explores barriers to reporting and support needs, and provides strategies for both proactive prevention and reactive handling of incidents.
Psychological safety and the importance of allyship (All)
This session aims to guide staff in understanding allyship and its impact on creating an inclusive, psychologically safe community. It highlights psychological safety, benefits to individuals and teams, and the role of allyship in promoting diversity, challenging biases, and supporting marginalised voices. Practical resources are provided to foster an inclusive culture.

It emphasises valuing diversity, challenging biases, amplifying marginalised voices, and supporting those facing discrimination. Practical resources are included to foster an inclusive culture.

King’s is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, guided by Our Principles in Action, and complies with key legislation such as the Equality Act and Public Sector Equality Duty. King’s deploys Equality Impact Assessments (EIA’s) to assess policy impacts on individuals with protected characteristics and provide two types of training to support staff with this. Understand EIA’s purpose, importance, benefits, your role, and support. Learn about EIA’s, their significance, stages, and mitigating differential impacts.

Supporting employees through the menopause
This training will help you to develop a better understanding of what the menopause is, when and why it happens, and what you can do to support your menopausal colleagues. It also asks you to consider your own assumptions and beliefs about the menopause, challenge stereotypes and think about what measures you can take to cultivate a more inclusive and supportive environment for those experiencing the menopause. We can also provide face to face group session on request.
Tackling microaggressions training
King’s has committed to nurturing an anti-racist culture as a part of our Race Equality Action Plan. An aspect of this includes tackling microaggressions within our community. Tackling Microaggressions Staff Training has been specifically developed to support King's staff to embark on their professional and personal anti-racist learning and development journey.

Unconscious bias
All individuals, make unconscious choices that discriminate in favour of, or against, certain characteristics in a person or a group. By acknowledging and addressing the unconscious biases helps us to continue building an inclusive community where all colleagues feel that they are respected and belong.
Aurora Leadership Programme
Aurora is a development programme run by AdvanceHE for individuals who identify as a woman and are in the early stages of their careers-normally up to senior lecturer level or an equivalent grade in professional services-who would like to develop and explore issues relating to leadership roles and responsibilities.
Aurora is an opportunity for women to build strong peer networks with women from across the higher education sector, giving them the support and encouragement they need throughout all stages of their career. The programme consists of ongoing mentoring and development days, held online and spread over four months, plus 1 in person event.

B-MEntor
B-MEntor is a cross-institutional London-wide mentoring scheme for academic, research and professional services staff from Black, Asian, Mixed and minority ethnic backgrounds.
B-MEntor is run in partnership with Queen Mary University London, King’s College London, St George’s University of London, University of the Arts London, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The programme supports King’s Race Equality Action Plan, specifically our commitment to attract, appoint and invest in talent.
There are two schemes-one for academic and research staff, and one for professional services staff.
StellarHE Leadership Development Programme
tellarHE is a targeted leadership development programme designed to support Black and Minority Ethnic academics, researchers and Professional Services staff. The programme has been designed specifically to develop and implement leadership strategies that reflect the unique challenges and experiences of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic academic and professional staff across Higher Education.
King’s is dedicated to developing and supporting diverse talent and inclusive leadership and the university is committed to supporting members of the King’s community to take part in the StellarHE programme. The programme is for staff who aspire to operate at a senior, strategic level here at King’s and contribute to our institutional commitment to advance race equality.
Into Academia Ethnic Minority Mentoring Scheme
Into Academia is a mentoring scheme for undergraduate (UG) students from Black and minoritised ethnic groups who are considering a career in academia. The scheme offers the opportunity to forge a one-to-one connection with an academic or researcher at King’s- to gain support and experience and benefit from their expertise.
