Biography
Zoe Danbury is a member of the Workforce Panel of the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health & Social Care Workforce, King's College London.
Zoe is a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist with over 14 years of experience in helping individuals achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Derby and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Zoe is also a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). Zoe is the Strategic Principal Occupational Therapist for the Isle of Wight Council within Adult Social Care and Housing. Zoe’s role is to shape the future of occupational therapy through quality improvement: Identifying areas for improvement within occupational therapy services and implementing strategies to address these areas. Zoe’s career has predominantly been within older adult mental health services and memory services, where she specialised in dementia care. Her approach is holistic, focusing not only on physical rehabilitation but also on emotional and social well-being. The Isle of Wight demographic is that of an older population, which presents unique challenges and opportunities for the island's community and services. Recent estimates are that there are approximately 2,655 people over the age of 65 living with dementia on the Isle of Wight. This number is expected to rise to 3,920 by 2030 due to the island's aging population. Zoe has an interest in inequalities and ageing, moreover, ageing without children and the need to access paid care at an earlier age and lower level of dependency. Zoe has completed training as a Best Interests Assessor and Deprivation of Liberty authorising signatory. She engages in the National and Regional Principal Occupational Therapy network, contributing to the advancement of the profession.
Throughout her career, Zoe has been committed to continuous learning and professional development. She regularly attends workshops and conferences to stay updated with the latest advancements in occupational therapy and dementia care. In her free time, Zoe enjoys travelling and spending time with friends and family. She is passionate about empowering individuals to live their best lives and is always eager to share her knowledge and expertise with others.
