Biography
Yutaku’s research is centred in multiphase flows, interfacial phenomena, wetting and phase change heat transfer i.e. boiling, evaporation and condensation. He is passionate in experiments and develops optical techniques coupled with image processing to capture flows and heat transfer at various time and spatial scales. He is particularly interested in fundamental problems arising from current / future industrial applications such as spray cooling in steelmaking and microelectronics / data centres, condensers in power generation, and microfluidics for bioassay.
Yutaku studied Mechanical Engineering at National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Miyakonojo College (BEng) and Kyushu University (MEng & PhD), both in Japan. He was also a visiting PhD student at the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Edinburgh. Prior to joining King’s in January 2023, he was an Assistant Professor at Kyushu University, Japan (2019-2022).
