Biography
Xinyun has experience working with special needs students in both China and the UK. In addition to her educational background, she has background in Chinese classical music performance, graphic design, and programming. Xinyun is integrating these diverse skills into her current PhD research, where she designs Augmented Reality teaching and learning toolkits specifically for autistic learners in mathematics classroom. Alongside her studies, she is involved with local charities in London, where she assists students who face challenges in engaging with mainstream education.
Thesis title
The Application of Augmented Reality in Mathematical Geometry Learning for Students with Autism Spectrum Conditions
Abstract
Her research focuses on utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) tools to support autistic students in their mathematics learning. Currently, she aims to adopt the Design-Based Research method to engage participants' voices in developing educational WebAR toolkits. She seeks to design these toolkits to create highly interactive and immersive environments that integrate serious mathematical study with elements of art and gamification.
