Dr Wenjing Zhang

Research Fellow

Biography

Wenjing Zhang is a Research Fellow at the Health & Social Care Workforce Research Unit (HSCWRU) at King’s College London. Her research expertise and interests focus on adult social care, care markets, ageing and international and comparative social policy.

With over ten years of experience in the health and social care sector, Wenjing has worked on policy- and practice- oriented research projects using both qualitative and quantitative methods. She led the Better Care Moves for Older People project, a co-production study funded by the NIHR School for Social Care Research (SSCR).

Dr Zhang is Co-I on the major Adult Social Care Workforce Research Partnership: the Care Work project.

Wenjing is also a Co-I and Researcher in Residence for the Kent Research Partnership, which focuses on building research capacity in adult social care workforce. In this role, she works closely with practitioners at Kent County Council and the wider social care workforce to build research capacity and practitioner-led social care research.

Before joining HSCWRU, Wenjing was based at the Centre for Health Services Studies at the University of Kent (2019-2025) and previously worked at the University of Bristol.

Wenjing holds a PhD in Social Policy from the University of Bristol, an MSc in Social Policy (Research) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BSc in Social Work from Fudan University.
