Biography

Dr. Wei Xu received his bachelor's degree from Nanjing Medical University in China in 2004 and studied for a master's degree in endocrinology and metabolic diseases at Nanjing University in China in 2007, where he studied serum amyloid A and endothelial inflammation. In 2016, he received his PhD from Southeast University and King's College London (funded by the China Scholarship Council), where he conducted explore on pancreatic stellate cell activation and worked as a clinician in the Endocrinology Department of Xuzhou Central Hospital in China.

In 2019, he joined King's College London (KC Wong fellowship) to research pancreatic stellate cells regulating islet function. In 2020, he returned to the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism of Xuzhou Central Hospital to engage in clinical and scientific research. In 2025, Dr. Xu Wei joined SCMMS as a research fellow to focus on MSC-EVs and pancreatic islet function.
