Biography
Tom Foulkes is the Director of Research Strategy and Performance at King’s College London. In this role, he leads a series of activities, initiatives and capabilities to enhance the university’s research, working with and reporting to the Vice-Principal (Research & Innovation) Professor Sir Bashir M. Al-Hashimi.
The Research Strategy & Development team’s activities include delivery of strategic initiatives across the university, research development (coordinating and supporting research funding applications), a variety of research and impact training programmes, support for key partnerships, and coordination of our REF and KEF submissions. The team support c.£100m of successful funding applications each year.
Tom joined King’s in 2013 as the (inaugural) Director of Research Development (Health), and has developed the current team from this starting point. Before joining King’s, he worked at the Medical Research Council and in the pharmaceutical industry.
Tom has a PhD in Neuroscience from UCL, and an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge.
