Biography

Theresa Rötzel is a visiting researcher at the Centre for Sustainable Business at King’s Business School.

She is a Research Associate and PhD Candidate in the Cluster of Excellence Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CLICCS) at the University of Hamburg, where she forms part of the research group D°GREES (Decarbonization: Global Research on Effects in Enterprises and Societies).

Theresa's research centers on corporate responses to climate change. In particular, she explores how companies are enabled and constrained in their decarbonization efforts. She analyzes organizations and corporate actors across various sectors but also considers the influence of key stakeholders, such as investors, in either facilitating or hindering corporate decarbonization.

She is experienced in qualitative research methods and draws on multiple qualitative data sources, including interviews, observations, and archival material.

The joint research paper with her supervisor, Prof. Timo Busch, and her PhD colleague Carolin Weber on the role of top-down and bottom-up practices for resolving tensions, had been nominated for the Academy of Management ONE Division's best paper award in 2024.
