Biography
Dr Shobha Ahi is a Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Drug Control Centre, King’s Forensics, Department of Analytical, Environmental & Forensic Sciences (AEFS), Institute of Pharmaceutical Science.
She holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and her thesis was based on new methods of prohibited substances and few administration studies for marker metabolite identification. She has over 15 years of experience as an anti-doping scientist working in a WADA accredited laboratory. She has developed and led research projects pertaining to anti-doping science, drug metabolism and supplements in sports.
Research
Shobha has supervised PhD students for research work based on detection of alcohol in human hair and had been supervising Post-Graduate and M. Pharm. University students for their dissertation thesis in anti-doping since 2015. She had been the Adjunct Faculty for post graduate students of toxicology, forensic science, instrumentation and drug metabolism in various Universities. She is author of over 35 scientific publications, and conference proceedings in the field of drugs of abuse testing, analytical chemistry, sports medicine and has been serving as an editorial board member and reviewer analytical and bio-analytical journals of repute. Her current research interest is in dried blood sample testing and in-vitro metabolites characterization for anti-doping purposes.
