Dr Shelly Kemp PhD

Lecturer in Psychology Education

Biography

Dr Shelly Kemp is a Lecturer in Psychology Education at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London. She joined in March 2023, and was appointed to teach on the Distance Learning Programmes: MSc in Applied Neuroscience and MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health.

Shelly completed her PhD in Biological Sciences (interdisciplinary focus) from University of Liverpool in 2012. Her current research interests are primarily related to Education Research, and the field of Cognitive Psychology, particularly relating to Creativity and Problem Solving. 

Shelly has previously worked at the University of Liverpool (2019-2023) and University of Chester (2018-2019) as a Senior Academic Developer in Academic Development, and prior to that was a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director in Psychology at the University of Buckingham (2012-2018).

Teaching 

Shelly is the module lead for two large modules on the distance learning programmes (MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health, and MSc in Applied Neuroscience). These Level 7 modules are Research Skills: From Reviewing and Critical Analysis to Research Ethics, and Psychological Foundations of Mental Health.

Additionally, Shelly supervises project students on their MSc projects, and contribute to education strategy and curriculum development for the Distance Learning programmes.
