Biography

Professor Sir Richard Sorabji CBE is a Fellow of both the British Academy and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Professor Sorabji spent 30 years at King’s between 1970 and 2000, and was made Professor of Ancient Philosophy in 1981. His citation upon the award for services to Philosophical Scholarship recognised him as ‘a leading scholar of the history of philosophy’ and highlighted his achievements in founding and directing the Ancient Commentators on Aristotle project, ‘one of the most ambitious international research projects in the humanities’.

In 2014, Richard was awarded a knighthood by the Queen in recognition of his ground breaking contribution to philosophical scholarship.
