Richard Barnes supports ProfessorSir Bashir M. Al-Hashimi CBE, Vice President (Research & Innovation) in his academic role as Arm Professor of Computer  Engineering. This includes outward facing activities such as Sir Professor Al-Hashimi’s Fellowships of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society and his roles as an external Board Director and Trustee. Richard also supports faculty wide project work including enhancing and reviewing faculty committee governance arrangements.

Richard is a professional executive manager with 25 years of experience in strategic and senior leadership support, working at University of Southampton where he previously managed the Office of the President and Vice-Chancellor as well as King’s College London.

Responsibilities:

• Supporting the interface with organisations linked to the professor’s external agenda and positions
• Providing the faculty with advice and recommendations in relation to committee structures and secretariat
