Biography

"Hi! I’m Rebecca and I am one of the two Faculty Wellbeing Officers within Social Sciences and Public Policy, acting as first point of contact for any wellbeing issues that might affect a students’ ability to study. I’ve worked in education for my whole professional career, firstly as a Primary School Teacher, and later within Higher Education in a number of pastoral, student support and wellbeing roles. I think personal wellbeing is fundamental to any form of education, and that being in balance and in tune with ourselves supports success in our studies as well as the other areas of our lives.

I have quite recent experience of being a student myself, having recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I’ve worked with a wide variety of clients during my studies, including domestic abuse survivors and those living in temporary accommodation due to experiencing homelessness. I approach all clients with compassion and warmth and am interested in understanding each person as an individual. Whilst I don’t offer counselling at King's, I can offer the same warm and inclusive approach to supporting students with wellbeing issues.

Outside of work I enjoy keeping active and try to attend at least three gym classes a week (the louder the music the better!) as well as being outside for walks and visits to interesting places. I also love to spend time with the people I care about, as this really recharges me."
