Biography

Dr Patel is a Clinical Fellow and Honorary Consultant in Dental Public at the Health Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences, King’s College London (KCL). She is the lead for the Dental Public Health curriculum in the BDS programme at KCL, part of the Faculty Research Committee and a Faculty Impact Champion.

Prior to joining KCL in 2013, Dr Patel had a varied career working across general dental practice, care homes, community dental services and academia. Dr Patel joined KCL in 2013 as an Academic Clinical Fellow and Specialty Trainee working between the DPH department at KCL and Public Health England. In 2014 she was successful in her application for a prestigious NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship with the Fluoride Interventions in Care Homes Trial (FInCH)*. Having completed her specialty training in 2014, Dr Patel was appointed to an NHS Consultant role part time whilst she completed her PhD, and currently works as a clinical academic across KCL and NHSE London Region.

Dr Patel is interested in health services research in the areas of ageing well, social care and Gerodontology. She is resolved to delivering research impact with outstanding results and engaging entrepreneurship and innovation to inform and influence change.
