Biography
Raghad is a PhD candidate at King’s College London in the School of Education, Communication, and Society. She holds an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from King’s College London (2021) and earned a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) in the same year.
Before pursuing her PhD, Raghad worked as an English teacher in Dubai and at a language school in London, where she developed a passion for education in diverse learning environments.

Requests in Jordanian Arabic
Abstract
Raghad's thesis explores participants’ perspectives and underlying ideologies about politeness in the context of making requests. Her research delves into how these interactions reflect cultural norms and social values within the Jordanian diaspora in the UK. Raghad’s interests lie in how individuals adapt and navigate daily interactions, particularly in the context of intercultural communication.
Her principal supervisor is Professor Beatrice Szczepek Reed.
Her secondary supervisor is Dr Martin Dewey.
