Biography
Kate graduated Tbilisi State University with the equivalent of first. Kate obtained her PhD in experimental psychology in Tbilisi academy of sciences and worked from lecturer to associate Professor in Tbilisi State University until 1997. In 1997 she moved permanently in the UK and works since than in the Institute of Psychiatry London.
Kate was Consultant (lead) clinical Psychologist in the Institute of Psychiatry outpatient Department in Tbilisi between 1990-1997. She has studies Neurospsychology in Moscow and group psychotherapy in St Petersburg.
From 1997 Kate works in the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.
She leads Women’s mental Health module for one of the largest MSc course in the Mental Health Studies Programme, teaches and provides training for doctoral level Clinical psychologists and takes PhD students in the area of her expertise (eating disorders, emotion regulation, cognitive psychology, social cognition, translational research).

Expertise and Public Engagement
Outside of the KCL Kate is visiting professor of clinical psychology in the Illia University Georgia.
She is the fellow of British Psychological Society; the Fellow of Academy of eating disorders and fellow of higher education academy UK. She is also an associate editor of Journal of European Eating Disorder Review.

The Eating Disorders Research Group aims to find out more about the neurobiological, genetic and psychological causes and consequences of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and other eating disorders, and to use that knowledge to develop new and better treatments.
