Biography

Prince joined Kings College London (KCL) in 2023 as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Translational Therapeutics. He currently works with the Centre for Affective Disorders and the Centre for Neuroimaging Sciences, where his expertise includes Affective Disorders, Clinical Neuroimaging and Neurosciences.

Prince completed his PhD at the Clinical Imaging Sciences Center (CISC), Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) where he developed a background in structural neuroimaging and worked on Multi-Modal Hippocampal Imaging in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Co-Morbid Depression, using novel MRI techniques. His work provided preliminary support to the utility of resolution-enhanced Diffusion weighted MRI, and Diffusion weighted-MRS for the assessment of MS Hippocampal pathology, particularly in Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (PPMS).

Prince was one of the Clinical Tutors on the Keith B. Taylor Global Scholars Program (St Georges University/ Northumbria University MD Program). He was also an Academic Tutor on the Student Selected Component (SSC) on Neuroscience and Behaviour, organised for medical students at BSMS. He lectures on the MSc Affective Disorder Module (KCL) and provides supervision for selected MSc Dissertations. Prince has published in high impact peer reviewed journals and has received multiple awards at local and international meetings. He has most recently been awarded a prestigious NIHR/ZINC Research Innovation Fellowship associated with unique Industry placements, and has also been accepted on the prestigious Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program (24/25) at the Harvard Medical School (Boston Cohort).

Prince has several other academic qualifications including an MSc in Biotechnology from Teesside University, PgCert in Genomic Medicine from the University of Birmingham, PgCert in Dementia Studies from BSMS and Post graduate credits in Research Methods in Health from Keele University. He has professional memberships of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Royal Society of Biology.

Research Interests

  • The development of novel neuroimaging biomarkers to monitor effects of treatment of neuroinflammatory conditions and co-morbid affective/cognitive disorders.
  • Developing Psychotherapeutic Packages for patients with Chronic Autoimmune Neuroinflammatory conditions.
  • Voice Biomarkers: Assessing the performance of speech-based Machine Learning models in stratifying the risk of bipolar disorder in those with depressive symptoms (Industry related research)

Expertise and Public Engagement

Prince was a member of the scientific committee of the concluded MS Frontiers 2024 and was Co-Chair on the wellbeing of people with MS Parallel session. Prince is also an Innovation Fellow with A.I and Digital App related industries.
