Biography

Dr Mihwa Seong is a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship in the department of Strategy, International Management & Entrepreneurship, leading the module, Venture Growth, which is part of the Strategic Entrepreneurship & Innovation MSc.

She completed her PhD in Entrepreneurship at Ivey Business School, Western University in Canada, and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Her main area of research straddles diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and entrepreneurial career contexts. Through research, she seeks to help level the playing field in entrepreneurship, where diverse perspectives and backgrounds are valued and supported - an indispensable element of a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Her research interests include:

  • Gender and entrepreneurship
  • Entrepreneurial well-being
  • Entrepreneurial support

With research collaborators around the world, her research has been published in the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (ABS 4; IF: 5.4), Current Opinion in Psychology (IF: 6.3), and Organizational Psychology Encyclopedia. In addition, her works have been presented at various prestigious international conferences, including the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business, and the Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Leadership Symposium (IPLS). At the Academy of Management, she serves as a representative-at-large in the DEI division.
