Michael Eyre trained in Natural Sciences (Experimental Psychology) at the University of Cambridge and Medicine at King's College London, specialising in paediatric neurology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and Evelina London Children's Hospital (ELCH).

As a Clinical Research Fellow at King’s College London and Honorary Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at ELCH he has clinical and research interests in acute neurology, neuroimaging and neuroinflammation. He is currently funded by Action Medical Research and the British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA) to develop advanced MR for autoimmune encephalitis in children and young people, combining EEG-fMRI and 7 Tesla MRI/MRS with detailed cognitive evaluation.

He also teaches on the BPNA Acute Neurology course and collaborates internationally to improve the diagnosis and management of neuroimmune disorders in children.
