Biography
Melanie has a 20 year career in the NHS prior to joining King's in February 2021. Her passions are cardiology nursing leadership and sustainable healthcare. She has worked as a Cardiac Specialist Nurse, Coronary Care Ward Manager, Resuscitation Officer, Accident and Emergency Sister and Medical Matron and brings her abundant clinical knowledge and insight into UK healthcare to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Faculty.
As one of the Sustainability Liaison Leads alongside Dr Jocelyn Cornish, Melanie delivers teaching and support for students and staff on the need for environmentally sustainable healthcare delivery. She has been proactive in contributing to the recent successful Beacon Status accreditation of the Faculty with the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, and continues to be active in projects that will embed the message further in all ways of working.
Melanie is committed to equality, diversity and inclusivity and is an LQBTQ and Black Lives Matter ally.
Teaching
Melanie is module lead for Working with and Motivating Others and the cardiac Care Optional Modules and supports many undergraduate nursing modules over the three years as well as the masters level students.
