Biography
Mauro Bonavita is a PhD student in International Relations at King’s College London. His research focuses on maritime strategy and naval diplomacy, maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region, European maritime strategies in the Indo-Pacific, and India’s foreign policy in the Indian Ocean Region. He a founding member of the Indo-Pacific research group at King's, and Visiting Fellow at the National Maritime Foundation (New Delhi, India).
Mauro has taught in the Department of War Studies and the Department of Political Economy, courses on International Relations, Conflict and Diplomacy, and Political Economy. He obtained his BA in Political Science from the University of Genova (Italy), and his MSc in Geopolitics and Strategic Studies from the University Carlos III of Madrid (Spain).
Research
Thesis title: 'The Indian Navy’s role in India’s Indo-Pacific strategy'
Mauro's research focuses on maritime strategy and naval diplomacy, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region, and the function of the Indian Navy as an instrument of Indian foreign policy in the Indo-Pacific.
Mauro studies the maritime security architecture in the Indian Ocean region, and the role of mini-lateral formations and regional forums in shaping the maritime order in this emerging region.
