Biography
Magdalena Markowska is a Research Fellow at the King’s Business School, King’s College London, and an Associate Professor in Business Administration (on leave of absence) at Umea University in Sweden. She serves as an Associate Editor at International Journal of Gender and Entrepreneurship.
Her research focuses on (1) women entrepreneurship, (2) identities and careers and (3) enabling contexts. Magdalena explores how family-friendly policies impact women entrepreneurship and how women entrepreneurs create identities of being simultaneously a good mother and a good entrepreneur. Currently, she investigates wellbeing of women entrepreneurs. Her work seeks to contribute to gender equality and has been published in Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Small Business Economics, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development among other journals as well as in edited books, has co-edited a book entitled Contextualizing Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies and Developing Countries.
Magdalena’s research has won international awards, attracted over EUR 1,6 million in funding from the EU Horizon MSCA, Swedish Research Council, Nordic Council of Ministers, Hakon Swenson Foundation, Jan Wallander and Tom Hedelius Foundation and STINT and has been featured on Entrepreneur & Innovation Exchange platform.
