Linda Bryant
PhD Student
Biography
Linda is a PhD student in the Artificial Intelligence in Mental Health (AIM) Lab, where her research focuses on applying AI to explore the interface between Parkinson’s disease and psychosis. Her work involves developing machine learning models aimed at enhancing early diagnosis and intervention strategies for neurodegenerative and mental health conditions.
Linda completed her BSc in Brain & Cognition and Clinical Psychology at the University of Amsterdam in 2023 and, later that year, began her MSc in Mental Health Studies at King’s College London, graduating with distinction. As part of her Master’s dissertation, she joined the AIM Lab under the supervision of Dr. Paris Alexandros Lalousis, Dr. Fiona Coutts, and Prof. Nikos Koutsouleris. During which she was awarded a EPSRC DRIVE-Health studentship, which gave her the opportunity to pursue her own PhD project, exploring Parkinson’s disease and psychosis using AI. She has also worked as a clinical and research assistant at the NHS Oxleas early intervention for psychosis unit.
Now continuing her work in the AIM Lab with the same supervisory team, Linda’s research aims to use machine learning methods to predict disease onset and treatment outcomes in Parkinson’s and psychosis populations. By leveraging clinical, cognitive, genetic, and neuroimaging data, she seeks to inform clinical approaches in neurodegenerative and psychiatric care. Through her research, Linda is committed to translating data science into clinical applications, advancing precision medicine in Parkinson’s and psychosis using AI.

Research
Artificial Intelligence in Mental Health (AIM)
The Artificial Intelligence in Mental Health (AIM) lab is co-led by the Chair of Precision Psychiatry Professor Nikolaos Koutsouleris and the Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence in Mental Health Dr Paris Alexandros Lalousis. It is a new lab based in the Department of Psychosis Studies at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience. Our focus is to use AI techniques to improve understanding of mental health disorders and improve diagnostic, prognostic, and treatment tools available for mental health clinicians.
