Biography
Leanne Hammacott is Head of Cultural Programming and leads on the delivery of a public facing programme of cultural events and exhibitions, across King's and the Strand Cultural Quarter, showcasing unique and interdisciplinary collaborations between academics, researchers, students, artists and cultural partners.
Leanne joined King's in 2014 from creative digital production company body>data>space where she was Associate Director, managing the company and the studio as well as the large-scale projects moving through the unit. She has over 20 years' experience working in the cultural, creative and HEI sectors, leading teams in international co-production, and the bringing together of 5 -10 partners to work together on multi-country collaboration projects.
Leanne has a background in dance/body and technology and has been working since 2001 with an international network and community of artists, designers and researchers engaged in creating innovative connections between performance, architecture, new media and virtual worlds. Leanne is currently working with colleagues across the university on creative digital partnerships and collaborative research and development programmes exploring the potential of new technologies for virtual and physical spaces of the future.
Leanne is a project board member for St Mary le Strand church 'The Jewel in the Strand' supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund as a Sanctuary: place of welcome, worship and wellbeing at the heart of Strand Aldwych.
