Biography
Dr Kirsi Viisainen is a visiting professor in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine, at King's.
Kirsi is a Global Health Practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in implementing and managing health programs in bilateral (including the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland) and international organisations (The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria; WHO). Kirsi has experience with extensive practical program development and implementation experience in Mozambique.
Research
- Interrelationship of stigma and gender in HIV in Mozambique
- Integration of HIV and mental health services in resource poor contexts
- Definition and role of communities in health care development.
Kirsi's research has focused on medical anthropology and public health across a range of countries including; Finland, Central America, China and Mozambique, in the fields of reproductive health, health systems, HIV and malaria.
