Biography
Research title: Nowcasting Macroeconomic Indicators using Machine Learning

Juan Rufino Reyes is a PhD Student in Economics at King's Business School. His research endeavors are centered on the innovative application of machine learning techniques to engage in the practice of nowcasting macroeconomic indicators. Furthermore, his work also encompasses the utilization of Topic Modelling/Natural Language Processing (NLP) to derive non-traditional data.
He earned his Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Tokyo under the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP), MA in Development Policy degree from the De La Salle University, and BSc in Business Economics from the University of Santo Tomas. Juan is a recipient of the King's Business School - Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (KBS-ESCoE) Studentship funded by the Qatar Centre Global Banking and Finance.
