Biography

Dr Jessica Rees joined the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine in September 2022. In collaboration with the Department of Engineering, she works on the 'Design for healthy ageing: A smart system to decrease loneliness for older people' (DELONELINESS) study. The project brings together experts in social gerontology, psychology, product design and artificial intelligence. Jessica's area of expertise is qualitative methodologies.

Her research has focused on the psychological aspects of health and ageing. Jessica completed her PhD at University College London which explored the management of long-term conditions in dementia. Previously as a Research Fellow in Ageing and Multi-morbidity for the Applied Research Collaboration east of England, she researched the use of technologies to improve healthcare for older adults.
