Biography

Isabel is the Senior Technical Manager (Operations) in the Department of Chemistry. In this role, she manages Health & Safety, Instrumentation, Services and Facilities in the labs.

Prior to this, she was a Senior Technician in the Department of Chemistry and a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Randall Division, both at KCL.

Isabel holds a degree in Chemistry, a master’s degree in Molecular Biology and a PhD in Biochemistry & Biophysics from the University of Sevilla (Spain).

Responsibilities:

  • Managing H&S across the Department for both research and teaching
  • Managing all departmental/communal equipment and leading on research facilities
  • Overseeing the maintenance and repairs of departmental equipment, arranging annual service contracts and statutory inspections
  • Co-ordinating and overseeing the purchasing of laboratory goods, equipment and services within the department as required, leading on procurement for instrumentation
  • Managing technical budgets
