Honami Ikeda

Lecturer in Japanese Language Education

Biography

Honami began her teaching career in the UK as a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) instructor before transitioning to teaching Japanese. During her Japanese teaching journey, she established a school dedicated to teaching Japanese as a heritage language to young learners, fostering cultural and linguistic connections. Since 2018, she has been teaching Japanese at King's, where she focuses on pedagogical innovation and a student-centered approach. Honami believes it is her mission to enhance students' learning experience through a communicative approach. She is currently developing Japanese graded readers designed to support learners in mastering kanji more effectively.
