Biography

Gabriel is a Research Associate at the Policy Institute, King’s College London. He primarily works on issues related to mental health, alongside our colleagues at the Centre for Society and Mental Health.

His PhD explored the history of mental health in prisoners-of-war, investigating the programme of ‘Civil Resettlement’ carried out in post-war Britain. This initiative sought to cultivate good mental health in former POWs, while minimising any lasting impact from their imprisonment. Prior to this he worked at NHS England and a regional NHS trust, where he worked on chemotherapy commissioning policy, healthy town planning & development, and service provision.

He holds an MSc in the History of Science, Medicine & Technology and a BA in History, both from the University of Oxford. While working in the NHS he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Policy at Imperial College.
