Biography

Esra is a discourse analyst and corpus linguist working on crisis discourses (e.g., climate change, forced displacement, geopolitical and ideological conflicts) and ‘youth language’ (language variation and change, language ideologies). She incorporates methodologies of corpus-assisted discourse analysis, (critical) discourse analysis, and metaphor analysis in her works. Currently, she is collaborating with Dr. Chris Tang on her postdoctoral research project, which employs corpus and discourse analytic methods to investigate climate change discourses in Türkiye and the UK. She is the co-founder and co-convener of Discourse and Corpus Research Group (DISCORE), and co-convener of Corpus and Beyond seminar series.
