Dr Eloi Puig-Mayenco
Lecturer in Applied Linguistics
Biography
Dr Eloi Puig-Mayenco holds a lecturer position in the School of Education, Communication and Society at King’s College London. He is also a member of the Centre for Language, Discourse and Communication.
Before starting his current position in 2020, he obtained a PhD in Psycholinguistics from the University of Reading and held an ESRC postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Southampton (2019-20) to investigate the acquisition of a third language in childhood.
Research interests
- Second/third language acquisition
- Early bilingualism
- Linguistic phenomena at the syntax-semantics interface
- Methods in non-native language acquisition research
Teaching
Eloi teaches on the BA in English Language and Linguistics, as well as the MA in Applied Linguistics. He currently teaches:
- Second language learning
- Quantitative research methods
- Second/additional language acquisition
PhD supervision
Eloi would be interested in supervising students working on any topic related to second/third language acquisition, especially as it relates to the acquisition of properties that lie at the syntax-semantics interface. He would be happy to supervise students working on any language pairing/triad.
