Biography
Dr Ellen Hallams joined the Department of Defence Studies as a Visiting Lecturer in 2009. Prior to this she lectured in the Department of Politics & IR at the University of Reading and was a Visiting Lecturer at the Centre for the Study of Democracy at the University of Westminster in London.
She is a graduate in American Studies from the University of Manchester and gained her PhD in 2007 from the University of Reading on the subject of US attitudes towards NATO following 9/11 and NATO’s role in the ‘War on Terrorism’.
Between April-June 2012 she was a Research Associate at the Norwegian Defense Institute in Oslo. Her research interests are in the areas of contemporary US foreign policy and transatlantic relations, as well as different pedagogic approaches and practices within PME.

Dr Hallams is currently unable to take on new PhD students.
