Biography
Dr Eleni (Lena) Magklasi is a Lecturer in Commercial Law at the Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is the author of the monograph Arbitration Clauses in Maritime Contracts (Routledge 2024). She is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. She is also an Attorney-at-Law and a Member of the Athens Bar Association. She obtained her PhD in International Commercial Law from the University of Southampton with full scholarship from the School of Law.
Dr Magklasi has an LLM in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton with a distinction in both the module of International Commercial Arbitration (LLM) and the dissertation in the same subject area. She holds an LLB from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Dr Magklasi was admitted to the Law School of Athens with distinction (among the top students) and was awarded by the Greek State.
Dr Magklasi is the Module Leader of the 7FFLL574 Carriage of Goods by Sea module (postgraduate level), and of the online LLM module of Carriage of Goods by Sea (7FFLP010). She is also teaching on several modules of the LLM International Corporate and Commercial Law (online) and of the LLM International Financial and Commercial Law (online). She has also taught on the 6FFLK013 Commercial law module (undergraduate level).
Research Interests
She is particularly interested in conducting research in the area of International Commercial Arbitration, Carriage of Goods by Sea, International Trade Law, Commercial Conflicts of Law, Commercial Law, Oil and Gas Law, Marine Insurance, Contract Law, E-commerce, EU Law.
