Biography
Dwinanda Ardhi Swasono is a PhD student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of International Development at King's.
Dwinanda's research focuses on the nation and elite building through educational pathways in the Global South, particularly in the context of Indonesia. His work builds on and extends established theoretical frameworks, including cultural capital, rational choice, and social mobility, challenging us to apply and adapt these Global North-centric theories to the Indonesian context. He holds a master's in International Development Policy from Duke University, USA. He received his bachelor's degree from Universitas Indonesia.
Prior to joining King's, Dwinanda worked as a senior communication analyst and Assistant to Minister of Finance Special Advisor's on Macroeconomic and Fiscal Policy at the Ministry of Finance of Indonesia. He was a summer research intern at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC in 2018.
Dwinanda has contributed to various community organisations in different capacities, such as President of Indonesia Mengglobal (2021/2022 and 2022/2023), Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs and Social Movement of the Indonesian Students Association in the UK (2022/2023), and Secretary General of the Indonesian Doctoral Student Associations in the United Kingdom (Doctrine UK) for the 2023/2024 term.
