Biography

Dr Pratibha Ram is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Marketing and the Deputy Director of the MSc Online Marketing programme. She is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education.

She holds a Master's degree (MSc) in Marketing and Retail with distinction and a Doctoral degree (PhD) in Marketing from the University of Manchester. She received full funding for her doctoral research and was awarded a studentship from the University of Manchester. Her research focused on symbolic branding and inconspicuous consumption within the luxury retail sector.

Pratibha began her career in marketing, gaining several years of industry experience in business development, branding, and advertising. She later transitioned to academia, which is her second career. Her industry experience has enriched and shaped her research interests, which span critical areas such as consumer research, branding, and social sustainability. Her work delves into the nuanced social and cultural dimensions of branding and consumption.

She has extensive international experience working in diverse cultural and academic settings as her career spans across various universities in Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom. She has been teaching postgraduate and executive education for more than thirteen years and her expertise lies in program management and curriculum development. Prior to joining King's College London, she was a lecturer at the University of Manchester, where she held various leadership roles at both the department and discipline levels.

Pratibha has received several awards, including academic leadership awards and exceptional performance awards. She is a Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE), accredited by the Chartered Association of Business Schools. Additionally, she was awarded a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), recognising her significant contributions to enhancing Master’s student experience, engagement, and well-being through a sustained record of leadership and innovation in teaching and learning practices.
