Biography

Dimitrios Parasonos is a member of the Workforce Panel of the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health & Social Care Workforce, King's College London.

I have more than 12 years of clinical experience since I qualified as physiotherapist and have worked as a physiotherapist in various settings including: community rapid response services, A+E, neuro rehabilitation, respiratory, among others. I completed my Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice at the University of Greenwich (2023) and I work as Frailty Advanced Clinical Practitioner with the Acute Frailty Team at St Mary's Hospital (Imperial College NHS Trust).

My research interest is focused on frailty and polypharmacy and the impact of medication review on various health-related outcomes (such as quality of life and falls). I am currently working on a scoping review of the literature regarding structured medication reviews in frail adults with polypharmacy and how it affects their quality of life. The aim of the project is to identify research gaps and map the existing evidence around the topic and take my research findings forward, aiming to apply for a predoctoral fellowship. Other areas of my research interest include workforce education and management and strategies to allow integration of services, as well as the role of enhanced and advanced practitioners in the NHS landscape.
