Biography
Debbie joined King’s College London in May 2024 as the Lead and Reader in Faculty Development within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine. In her role, she focuses on the pipeline development of the educational workforce in FoLSM, aligning with KCL's strategic intention to achieve parity between educational and research excellence. Debbie holds a first degree from the University of Southampton, an MSc from the University of Portsmouth Business School, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Nottingham. Additionally, she has obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) from the University of Kent and is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (formerly HEA).
As a Doctor of Education, Debbie's research interests include the professionalisation of occupations, retention and career literacy, and the concept of meaningful work. Prior to her appointment at KCL, Debbie served as the academic Head of the Centre for Professional Practice and Head of Digital and Lifelong Learning at the University of Kent, as well as working with NIHR ARCKSS and the Defence Dental Services. She possesses extensive experience in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of transdisciplinary and collaborative academic provision for the medical, healthcare, dental, education and science workforces.
