Biography
"I’m Darren, one of the Faculty Wellbeing Advisor’s here at KCL for the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN).
I’m passionate about advocacy, wellbeing, and promoting positive mental health and self-care. I enjoy helping people get the support they need so that the feel empowered and inspired to overcome challenges and thrive both personally and professionally.
I previously held the position of Advice Manager at Imperial College Union where I played an integral role in the turnaround of the Advice Service through improvement of casework outcomes, student engagement and satisfaction, and establishing a partnership agreement with a legal advice service.
During my tenure at the University of West London Student’s Union as a Student Support Coordinator I designed and delivered several different projects including student support programmes for 3500 newly enrolled students and leading student engagement activities which comprised a series of campaigns at keys times of the academic year, ensuring students were aware of support, and services available for them to access at university.
I am excited to join the Wellbeing team and look forward to applying my skills and experience to support all King’s students and give them the best opportunity to excel in their journey and complete their studies.
In my spare time, I like to work out at the gym, go to combat classes, attend theatre shows, and participate in drama workshops. I also enjoy reading, travelling, sports and learning."
