Danny Norrington-Davies
Visiting Lecturer in TESOL/Applied Linguistics
Biography
Since completing his Cambridge CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) in 1995 Danny has worked as an English language teacher in Malawi and the UK and as a teacher educator in Albania, Argentina, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand and the UK.
From 2007 to 2018 Danny worked at International House London, where he was involved in teaching general English to adults. He also worked as a teacher educator on Cambridge CELTA and DELTA courses and with closed groups of teachers.
Danny started working for King’s College London on the MA TESOL in 2017 and joined on a permanent basis in 2019. His main interest in ELT is the way that grammar is taught, which led to the publication of his first book, ‘Teaching grammar: from rules to reasons’ in 2016.
Research interests
Danny regularly presents at international conferences, and he is currently researching how teachers focus on form in communicative classrooms with a view to publishing and embarking on a PhD.
Other research interests and topics of conference presentations include materials design, how teachers focus on form, grammar and approaches to grammar teaching, inclusivity in ELT materials, SLA and teacher education.

Danny supervises Master's dissertations on language teaching methodology, grammar, materials design and evaluation, learner language, teacher development and education.
